Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions modders ask us most. If something isn't covered here, the contact options at the bottom go straight to us.

Ordering & Account

Do I need an account to order?

No. Guest checkout works for every order. Creating an account just makes future orders faster and lets you view your order history and tracking in one place.

What currency will I see at checkout?

Prices auto-detect your location and display in your local currency where supported (USD, EUR, GBP, SGD, AUD, CAD, JPY, and more). You can switch currencies manually using the selector in the site header.

Your transaction is finalised in the currency you've selected — no surprise conversions. Some banks may still add a small foreign transaction fee on international charges; that's outside our control.

What payment methods do you accept?

Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay, and PayPal. Every transaction is processed through Shopify Payments or PayPal — we never see or store your card details.

Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?

If your order hasn't shipped yet, yes — email us at hello@luciusatelier.com as soon as possible with your order number. We process orders within 1–2 business days, so the window is short.

Once an order has shipped we can't recall it, but you can refuse delivery or return it once received.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes. Lucius Atelier gift cards are delivered digitally and never expire. Useful when you can't decide between the dial and the case.

Do you offer trade or bulk pricing?

For watchmakers, modding studios, and retailers, yes. Email hello@luciusatelier.com with your business name, country, and what you're looking to source. We'll come back with terms.

Our Parts & Compatibility

Are your parts genuine Seiko or aftermarket?

Aftermarket. Every part is designed and manufactured by Lucius Atelier to fit Seiko movements and case footprints. We're not affiliated with or licensed by Seiko Watch Corporation, and we don't sell or modify genuine Seiko parts.

Our parts are produced through ISO 9001 certified manufacturing partners, with our own quality control. Many builders consider our parts a step up from stock Seiko in finishing and consistency — that's the point.

Which Seiko movements do your dials and cases fit?

Our 28.5mm dials fit the entire Seiko NH "Type M" family:

  • NH34 (GMT), NH35, NH36, NH38, NH70 / NH71 / NH72 (skeleton)
  • Also fits older Seiko calibres with the same footprint: 7S26, 7S36, 4R15, 4R35, 4R36, 6R15, NE15

Our cases are built around the NH movement family — full compatibility specs are listed on each case product page.

What's the difference between a 3 o'clock and 4 o'clock dial?

The crown position. Dial feet (the small legs on the back of the dial) must align with the movement's dial holder bracket. A 3 o'clock dial is made for movements with the crown at 3 (e.g. SNZF17, the modern NH "Type M"). A 4 o'clock dial is made for movements with the crown at 4 (e.g. SKX007, SRPD).

Some of our dials ship with four feet — you trim or twist off the two you don't need with a penknife or fine file. We send them this way so one dial can serve both crown positions.

How do I know which bezel insert size fits my case?

Bezel inserts are sized by outer × inner diameter (e.g. 38×31.5mm). Common sizes:

  • SKX013 / smaller dive cases: typically 35.5×30.5mm
  • SKX007 / SRP-series: typically 38×31.5mm
  • SRPD ("Mini Turtle"): typically 38×31.5mm

Each insert listing shows the exact dimensions. If you're unsure which case you have, measure the bezel groove — outer edge to outer edge with a caliper — and match it to the listing.

What lume do your dials and hands use?

Our premium dials and hands are lumed with Swiss Super-LumiNova BGW9 Grade A — 100% Swiss-made phosphorescent pigment, producing the clean ice-blue glow we're known for. BGW9 is the same grade used by Grand Seiko and many Swiss brands.

Not every dial has lume — some of our designs (dress dials, no-lume vintage reissues) are printed without it. Lume specs are listed on each product page. We never describe a lume-free dial as lumed.

Do you offer sapphire crystals?

Yes — sapphire is the only crystal type we sell. Available in flat, single-domed, and double-domed profiles depending on the case. Most include double-sided anti-reflective (AR) coating; a few are AR-free for the warmer, slightly reflective vintage look.

AR coating, dome profile, and thickness are listed on each sapphire crystal product page.

What are Ultra Thin Cases?

Ultra Thin Cases are our proprietary case line, engineered to fit the full NH "Type M" movement family in profiles starting at 9.93mm — substantially slimmer than any other NH-compatible case on the market. Available in 316L stainless steel and Grade 4 titanium, in case diameters from 33mm (Bauhaus) to 38mm (Seikonaut).

Full programme details on the Ultra Thin Cases collection.

Are spring bars included with watch straps?

Yes. Every strap and bracelet order includes matching spring bars at no extra charge.

How do I know if your straps will fit my watch?

Our straps are made in 20mm lug width only — that's the universal lug width across our entire Ultra Thin Cases line and most popular Seiko mod builds. Measure the gap between your watch's lugs in millimetres; if it's 20mm, you're good.

Need a different size? We offer bespoke straps in custom widths through our Custom Shell Cordovan Leather Strap listing — just specify the lug width you need at checkout.

Do you sell titanium parts?

Yes — we use Grade 4 titanium, the strongest commercially pure grade. It's roughly 40% lighter than 316L stainless steel, harder than steel, and naturally corrosion-resistant. Browse the titanium collection for current cases, bracelets, and casebacks.

Titanium has a subtly greyer tone than stainless — visually similar at a glance, distinct in side-by-side comparison.

Can I see real customer builds with your parts?

Yes — every product page shows verified customer reviews via Judge.me, most with photos of the finished build. You can also follow @luciusatelier on Instagram for builds we feature regularly.

I can't find the part I want — will you make it?

We design new parts based on what the community is asking for. Email hello@luciusatelier.com with your idea and reference photos. We can't promise everything makes it to production, but every request goes into the design queue.

For one-off bespoke commissions, we don't currently take on custom-only work — our focus is on production parts that benefit the wider modding community.

Installation & Assembly

Do you have installation tutorials?
Can you assemble my watch for me?

Yes. We offer in-house assembly services in Singapore:

Labour only — bring your own parts, or buy them alongside the service. Turnaround is 3–5 business days from receipt of components.

I'm not in Singapore — can I still get installation help?

Yes. We maintain a curated list of watch modification specialists around the world. These are independent modders we trust — they work on our parts regularly. Rates and turnaround are set by each specialist.

You can also take your watch to a local watchmaker. Seiko movements are service-friendly and most watchmakers can handle a part swap, even if they don't specialise in modding.

What tools do I need to install your parts?

Minimum kit for most builds:

  • Caseback opener (Jaxa-style or knife)
  • Movement holder
  • Hand removal levers
  • Hand setting tool
  • Dial protector / Rodico
  • Spring bar tool (for strap changes)

We stock the essentials in our Watch Tools collection. For a full breakdown by job, see the Complete Build Guide.

Do I need a special tool to change my watch strap?

Not for our straps. Every Lucius Atelier strap ships fitted with quick-release spring bars — a small lever on the spring bar lets you release the strap with just your fingernail. No tools required.

For straps without quick-release (other brands, OEM straps), you'll need a spring bar tool — a small forked tool that compresses the spring bar inside the lug. Around SGD $10 in any decent tool kit. Or take it to any watchmaker or jeweller; it's a five-minute job.

Will fitting your parts void my Seiko warranty?

Yes — modifying a Seiko watch with aftermarket parts voids the manufacturer warranty. This applies to any aftermarket modification, not specifically ours. Most modders are working on out-of-warranty Seikos for this reason.

If you want to mod a brand-new Seiko, you may want to wait until the warranty period ends, or accept that you're trading the warranty for a custom build.

Shipping & Delivery

Do you ship internationally?

Yes — worldwide. Every order ships from our Singapore warehouse. Rates and transit times depend on destination and order value. See our full shipping policy for the breakdown by region.

How long does delivery take?

Transit time depends on the service and destination:

  • Singapore: 1–3 business days (free)
  • Asia (Express): 2–4 business days
  • USA / Canada / Australia / Europe (Express): 2–4 business days
  • Asia (Economy): 2–4 weeks
  • Rest of world (Economy): 3–8 weeks

Delivery estimates are typical, not guaranteed. Customs clearance and local postal handling can add time. Free Express shipping kicks in above certain order values — check the shipping policy for thresholds by country.

When will my order be shipped?

We process in-stock orders within 1–2 business days from our Singapore workshop. Pre-orders ship on the estimated date listed on the product page — we'll notify you if there's a change.

Orders that include an assembly service or custom work take longer — typically 3–5 additional business days. Combined orders ship together once everything is ready.

Do you offer Express shipping?

Yes — Express is available at checkout to most destinations. Transit times are typically 2–4 business days within Asia and 2–5 business days to the rest of the world. Express ships free above certain order values; see the shipping policy for region-specific thresholds.

Express is not available to Russia or India — Economy shipping only for those destinations.

Will I get a tracking number?

Yes. Every shipment includes tracking. You'll receive the tracking number by email when your order leaves our workshop, and it's also visible in your account order history if you checked out with one.

Will I pay customs duties or import tax?

Depends on where you are:

  • USA: We absorb all customs duties and import taxes. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay — no surprise bill at delivery.
  • EU & UK: Your order is subject to VAT and import duties set by your government. These are paid on import and outside our control. Check your country's de minimis threshold and VAT rate if you want a precise figure before ordering.
  • Rest of world: Customs duties and taxes vary by country. Your government sets the thresholds; we don't.
What if my parcel is delayed or lost?

If your tracking hasn't updated in over 10 business days (Express) or 4 weeks (Economy), email us at hello@luciusatelier.com with your order number. We'll open an investigation with the carrier and either reship or refund once it's resolved.

Most "stuck" parcels eventually move — customs queues are the usual culprit.

Can I change my shipping address after ordering?

If we haven't shipped yet, yes — email hello@luciusatelier.com immediately with your order number and the corrected address. Once a parcel has shipped, we can't redirect it.

After Your Order

What if a part arrives defective or damaged?

Email hello@luciusatelier.com within 14 days of delivery with your order number and clear photos of the issue. We'll replace it or refund — your choice. Defects are rare, but when they happen we fix them fast.

Can I return parts I don't end up using?

Unused, unfitted parts in original packaging can be returned within 14 days of delivery for a refund (minus return shipping). Once a part has been fitted, polished, modified, or its lume activated, it's no longer returnable — that's standard for the modding industry.

Email us before sending anything back so we can issue a return reference.

Do you offer a warranty on your parts?

We stand behind every part we make. Defects in materials or workmanship are covered for 12 months from delivery — email us with photos and we'll replace.

Wear from fitting (scuffed screw heads, hand holes opened slightly, lume worn off during install) isn't a defect; we expect parts to be handled by their owners. If you'd rather not handle them yourself, see our assembly services in the Installation & Assembly section above.

How can I leave a review?

After your order is delivered, Judge.me will email you with a one-click review link. You can also leave a review directly on any product page — we read every one and reply when there's something to say.

Photo reviews help other modders enormously. If you build something good, send a picture too.

How do I stay updated on new releases?

Three places:

  • Newsletter — sign up via the form in the footer for launch announcements and restocks
  • Instagram and Facebook — daily builds, design previews
  • The New Arrivals collection — always shows the latest releases
