What Lucius Atelier is

Lucius Atelier is the smaller-case specialist in the Seiko modding world — a one-person operation based in Singapore that designs and manufactures aftermarket case bodies, dials, hands, bracelets and crystals built around the 33–38mm wrist.

Where the mainstream modding scene is built almost entirely on the 42mm SKX007 platform, Lucius Atelier exists for the modders the catalog forgot: the SKX013 community, the 62GS chasers, the builders who measure their wrist before they measure the case.

Founded in August 2018, the brand has spent eight years building one of the most uncompromisingly focused product lineups in the modding category.

About the Founder

Adriel Wen, founder and sole operator, came to watch modding through luxury collecting — not the other way around. Starting in 2007, he spent eleven years buying and selling at the top of the market: Patek Philippe, Rolex, IWC, Glashütte. The Patek Calatrava 5296 taught him what 38mm meant on a real wrist. The Rolex Explorer 114270 taught him the same thing at 36mm. An IWC Big Pilot 5002 at 46mm taught him the opposite, in a sale he describes as "more physics than regret."

Somewhere in the middle of those eleven years, he bought a sub-$100 Seiko 5 for an entirely separate reason: to take it apart and understand what was happening under the dial. "The Patek was the watch I wore. The Seiko 5 was the watch I learned on."

That double life — luxury aesthetics on one wrist, mechanical curiosity on the bench — became Lucius Atelier when he tried to mod his way to the smaller-case Seiko he actually wanted to wear and found the parts shelf nearly empty. The Explorer 36 launched in mid-2022 as the first Ultra Thin Edition case. Seven more have followed.

Lucius Atelier has never had a team and is not planning to become one.

The Lineup

Lucius Atelier's flagship product line is the Ultra Thin Edition — eight case designs sharing a unified dial spec, hand fitment, chapter ring dimension and NH-movement compatibility. Parts cross over between cases by design, because modding is an open hobby and the brand builds for the ecosystem, not the lock-in.

The line spans dress, sport, dive, pilot, and integrated-bracelet sport-luxury silhouettes — all built around a Seiko NH movement that cannot be redesigned, all engineered to fit the wrist sizes mainstream watchmaking left behind.

Case Style Thickness
Bauhaus 33 Minimalist dress — thinnest case in the catalog 9.93mm
Pilot 34 Flieger / cockpit, NH34 GMT-ready 10.96mm
Explorer 36 Sport-casual workhorse — the case that started the Ultra Thin program in mid-2022. Steel, DLC black, Grade 4 titanium. 9.96mm
1908 36 Semi-fluted dress, NH34 GMT-ready. Steel and yellow gold PVD. 10.75mm
62GS 36 Bezel-less, box-sapphire crystal, crown at 4 o'clock, NH34 GMT-ready 11.3 / 12.2mm
Seiko-Dweller 36 Grade 4 titanium integrated bracelet. Standalone in the line — does not share fitment with the other cases. 10mm
Seikonaut 38 Sports-luxury on 20mm lugs. Steel and Grade 4 titanium. 10mm
SKX013 Diver 38 The modder's evolution of Seiko's discontinued SKX013. Sub-style ceramic bezel. 100m WR standard; 200m with Thick Solid caseback. 10.86mm
