See It On A Watch

The Discontinued Diver. Rebuilt at 38mm. Ready to Mod.

Our ground-up reinterpretation of the discontinued SKX013 — sized at a wearable 38mm, with drilled-through lugs for that period-correct, tool-free strap-change character.

Built from the start to take our entire SKX013 mod-parts range, so the final piece is yours to spec. NH34 GMT-ready, and compatible with the full NH movement family.

Designed to fit all our 28.5mm dials and original NH movements (which seat on the grey dial holding spacer).

Wears 38, builds big.
Case diameter 38mm, lug-to-lug 45.5mm, 20mm lugs. Drop in a bezel insert and it carries real wrist presence for its size. See how a small dive case wears bigger .

Drilled-through lugs.
Vintage-style drilled lugs — quick, tool-free strap swaps and an honest period look.

Built to dive.
200m / 20 ATM, tested. Screw-down crown. Universal springbars.

Fits the whole SKX013 ecosystem.
Bezel, insert, sapphire crystal, chapter ring, crown, dial, hands — all from our SKX013 range. 28.5mm dials; NH movements on the grey dial holding spacer.

The SKX013 case family — find your size

Case Diameter Lug-to-Lug Character
SKX013 38mm · YOU'RE VIEWING THIS 38mm 45.5mm Our take on the discontinued SKX013 diver
SKX013 Submariner 36mm 36mm 45.5mm Vintage sub-style skin-diver
SKX013 GS Diver 36mm 36mm 44mm GS-style diver, most compact

All three share the same DNA — 316L steel or DLC black, 200m / 20 ATM, drilled-through lugs, 28.5mm dials, NH movements, and a 20mm bracelet or strap. What differs is size and silhouette.

This exact case also comes in the DLC Black Edition .

Heads up — this is the case body. The rest is sold separately.

This case ships as a bare body (with click spring and gaskets). The bezel, insert, crystal, caseback, chapter ring, crown, dial, hands and movement are chosen separately — it's built to fit our full SKX013 parts range .

Chapter ring. This case needs an SKX013-spec chapter ring to seat the dial correctly — without it the dial sits too low and the hands won't clear. It takes both normal and ultra thin chapter rings; the choice depends on your dial, not the case. If your dial has applied (raised) indices, pick an ultra thin chapter ring for clearance; a flat-printed dial works with either. Browse SKX013 chapter rings .

Crown. Screw-down, SKX-style. Browse SKX013 crowns .

  • New to Seiko modding? You can build the whole watch right here — every part is an Add dropdown on this page. The case ships as a bare body (with the bezel click spring and the crystal & caseback gaskets); you choose the rest and spec it exactly how you like.

Ten parts make a complete watch. You've got the case — here are the other nine, each a dropdown above, in the order you'd assemble them:

    1. Bezel — the rotating dive bezel. Browse SKX013 bezels .
    2. Bezel insert — the marked ring that sits inside the bezel. Browse inserts .
    3. Caseback — seals the case; solid, or sapphire to show off a decorated movement. Browse SKX013 parts .
    4. Chapter ring (required — seats the dial) — SKX013-spec; without it the dial sits too low and the hands won't clear. Browse chapter rings .
    5. Crown (required) — screw-down, SKX-style. Browse SKX013 crowns .
    6. Crystal — flat sapphire, pressed into the case. Browse SKX013 crystals .
    7. Dial (28.5mm) — match it to your movement: date, day+date, or no-date. Browse dials .
    8. Hands — paired to your dial; most modders match lume colour across hands and markers. Browse hands .
    9. Movement — NH35 (date), NH36 (day+date), NH38 (no date), or fit your own. Browse NH movements .

Building an NH34 GMT? Add a GMT 24H hand (its own dropdown) and a GMT / NH34-specific dial — the 24-hour hand is the one optional extra on top of the ten.

Optional extras (also dropdowns above): a 20mm bracelet or leather strap , and a Côtes de Genève decorated bridge + rotor — only visible through a sapphire caseback, and our bridges pair only with our rotors, so pick them together.

    Want it built for you?

Under ADD, tick Assemble Watch (+SGD $139) and we'll do the full build in our Singapore workshop — crystal press, bezel and insert fit, movement seating, crown alignment, caseback press, and a final function check.

Heads up: assembled watches need 2–5 business days of workshop time before they ship.

Questions, Answered

Everything worth knowing before you build.

Which caseback should I choose for the SKX013 Watch Case 38mm?

Two SKX013-spec casebacks, both sold separately: a solid caseback for a clean, closed back, or a sapphire (exhibition) caseback that shows off a decorated movement, bridge and rotor. Either keeps the case rated to 200m / 20 ATM. Pick solid for a classic tool-diver look; pick sapphire if you're running a Côtes de Genève bridge and rotor you want on display.

Are the case and bracelet edges sharp, or are they rounded off?

They are rounded off — but they are still crisp, and we would rather say that than have you open the box expecting something softer. "Sharp" is genuinely subjective: a Rolex is sharp too, and where one person reads that as crisp and well-defined, another finds it catches. The bracelet clasp is the sharpest part of the whole package — that is the part to know about before you commit.

If a previous mod was painful to wear, it is worth working out what actually caused it: a poorly finished lug edge digging in is a different problem from a clasp catching on the back of your wrist. Email hello@luciusatelier.com and say which it was, and you will get an honest answer on whether ours will be better or much the same.

Do you customize cases? Can I have a case machined or finished to my own spec?

Cases ship exactly as listed — no custom machining, no changes to size, lug width or lug shape, no alternative finishes of an existing case, and no engraving (a local engraver or jeweller can engrave a finished part after purchase). What you can customize is the build: choose the case, dial, hands, chapter ring, bezel insert, crystal and bracelet you want and LA will assemble the finished watch for you. Bespoke design work — one-off dials, mockups or renders, designing a build to a brief — is not offered. For fully custom work, see the list of watch modification specialists.

Can I use an aftermarket bracelet on this case?

No — only Lucius Atelier bracelets fit.

A bracelet isn't like a strap. Straps and NATOs hang off plain spring bars, so any 20mm strap works here. A bracelet with solid end-links is a different thing: the end-link is a shaped piece of steel machined to sit flush against one specific case profile. Ours are cut to the Lucius Atelier case shapes — that's what makes them look built-in rather than bolted on.

That precision cuts both ways. An aftermarket or OEM Seiko bracelet was shaped to its own maker's case, not to ours, so it won't sit flush here. The reverse is equally true: our bracelets don't fit generic 20mm lugs or OEM Seiko cases.

Every bracelet in our collection fits this case — including discontinued ones. A bracelet leaving the catalogue only means we stopped making it, never that it stopped fitting. Browse the bracelet collection: https://luciusatelier.com/collections/bracelets

If you'd rather not use a bracelet, any 20mm strap or NATO fits this case.

Great finish and quality build

Beautiful finishing on the case reflects outstanding quality build. Bezel action feels just right with little backplay.

I am interested in ordering a custom 38mm gmt on the skx13 case. I want it to have a 200 meter water resistance. Can you tell me what the total thickness would be? Thanks

Adriel from LuciusAtelier.com

Hello TJ!

Thanks for expressing interest in our mod parts!

It is great to hear you are planning a 38mm GMT build. The SKX013 [NH34-Ready] case is a fantastic choice for a compact yet capable GMT project. Regarding your questions:

• Thickness: The total thickness of the build will be approximately 14-15mm.
• Water Resistance: This case is designed to maintain a 200-meter water resistance rating, provided it is assembled correctly with all gaskets in place and pressure tested after completion.

Please keep in mind that the final thickness can vary slightly depending on the specific caseback and sapphire crystal you choose to pair with the case.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Best regards,
Adriel

Hi guys,
Is it possible to use a 24h chapter ring with this case?

Adriel from LuciusAtelier.com

Hi Alex,

Thanks for expressing interest in our mod parts!

Yes, you can definitely use a 24H chapter ring with this case—in fact, a chapter ring is mandatory for assembly. Without one, the build won’t come together properly.

You can browse all compatible SKX013 chapter rings here:
https://luciusatelier.com/collections/chapter-rings-swiss-quality-seiko-mod-parts/skx013?sort_by=title-ascending

Everything listed on that page will fit this case perfectly.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hello, does the crystal come directly to the case or separately? Can you do that if we specify in the order? Have a nice day

Adriel from LuciusAtelier.com

Hi Hugo,

Thank you for expressing interest in our mod parts!

This product is a vanilla watch case only—the sapphire crystal and all other components are sold separately. You can easily select the additional parts you need from the dropdown list on the product page before adding to cart.

Let me know if you need help selecting compatible parts—I’d be happy to assist!

Hey there - are you guys going to stock any NH35 cases with the crown at 4 o''clock for this case?

Adriel from LuciusAtelier.com

Hi Gordon,

Thank you for expressing interest in our mod parts!

There’s no specific NH35 case with a crown at the 4 o’clock position because the standard NH35 movement is already compatible with cases designed for both 3H and 4H crown positions.

Let me know if you have any other questions—I’m happy to assist!
