See It On A Watch

The Smallest Sub-Style Diver. 36mm. Ready to Mod.

A ground-up take on the definitive 1960s skin-diver silhouette — drilled-through lugs and gently pointed crown guards, in a rare, compact 36mm.

One of the smallest sub-style dive cases on the market. Add a bezel insert and it wears far bigger than the numbers suggest. NH34 GMT-ready and built to fit our full SKX013 parts range.

Designed for all our 28.5mm dials and original NH movements (grey dial holding spacer). Pairs especially well with a 7mm big crown.

Small case, big wrist presence.
Case diameter 36mm, lug-to-lug 45.5mm, 20mm lugs. With an insert fitted it punches well above its size.

Vintage dive DNA.
Drilled-through lugs and slightly pointed crown guards — faithful to the era's tool divers.

Built to dive.
200m / 20 ATM, tested. Screw-down crown — we recommend a 7mm big crown for grip.

Fits the whole SKX013 ecosystem.
Bezel, insert, sapphire crystal, chapter ring, crown, dial, hands — all from our SKX013 range. 28.5mm dials; NH movements on the grey dial holding spacer.

All three share the same DNA — 316L steel or DLC black, 200m / 20 ATM, drilled-through lugs, 28.5mm dials, NH movements, and a 20mm bracelet or strap. What differs is size and silhouette.

This exact case also comes in the DLC Black Edition .

Heads up — this is the case body. The rest is sold separately.

This case ships as a bare body (with click spring and gaskets). The bezel, insert, crystal, caseback, chapter ring, crown, dial, hands and movement are chosen separately — it's built to fit our full SKX013 parts range .

Chapter ring. This case needs an SKX013-spec chapter ring to seat the dial correctly — without it the dial sits too low and the hands won't clear. It takes both normal and ultra thin chapter rings; the choice depends on your dial, not the case. If your dial has applied (raised) indices, pick an ultra thin chapter ring for clearance; a flat-printed dial works with either. Browse SKX013 chapter rings .

Crown. Screw-down, SKX-style — we recommend a 7mm big crown on this case for grip. Browse SKX013 crowns .

  • New to Seiko modding? You can build the whole watch right here — every part is an Add dropdown on this page. The case ships as a bare body (with the bezel click spring and the crystal & caseback gaskets); you choose the rest and spec it exactly how you like.

Ten parts make a complete watch. You've got the case — here are the other nine, each a dropdown above, in the order you'd assemble them:

    1. Bezel — the rotating dive bezel. Browse SKX013 bezels .
    2. Bezel insert — the marked ring that sits inside the bezel. Browse inserts .
    3. Caseback — seals the case; solid, or sapphire to show off a decorated movement. Browse SKX013 parts .
    4. Chapter ring (required — seats the dial) — SKX013-spec; without it the dial sits too low and the hands won't clear. Browse chapter rings .
    5. Crown (required) — screw-down, SKX-style. We suggest a 7mm big crown on this case for a better grip. Browse SKX013 crowns .
    6. Crystal — flat sapphire, pressed into the case. Browse SKX013 crystals .
    7. Dial (28.5mm) — match it to your movement: date, day+date, or no-date. Browse dials .
    8. Hands — paired to your dial; most modders match lume colour across hands and markers. Browse hands .
    9. Movement — NH35 (date), NH36 (day+date), NH38 (no date), or fit your own. Browse NH movements .

Building an NH34 GMT? Add a GMT 24H hand (its own dropdown) and a GMT / NH34-specific dial — the 24-hour hand is the one optional extra on top of the ten.

Optional extras (also dropdowns above): a 20mm bracelet or leather strap , and a Côtes de Genève decorated bridge + rotor — only visible through a sapphire caseback, and our bridges pair only with our rotors, so pick them together.

    Want it built for you?

Under ADD, tick Assemble Watch (+SGD $139) and we'll do the full build in our Singapore workshop — crystal press, bezel and insert fit, movement seating, crown alignment, caseback press, and a final function check.

Heads up: assembled watches need 2–5 business days of workshop time before they ship.

Questions, Answered

Everything worth knowing before you build.

Which caseback should I choose for the SKX013 Submariner Watch Case 36mm?

Two SKX013-spec casebacks, both sold separately: a solid caseback for a clean closed back, or a sapphire (exhibition) caseback that reveals a decorated movement, bridge and rotor. Either keeps this sub-style skin-diver rated to 200m / 20 ATM. Pick solid for a vintage tool look; pick sapphire if you're running a decorated bridge and rotor on display.

Are the case and bracelet edges sharp, or are they rounded off?

They are rounded off — but they are still crisp, and we would rather say that than have you open the box expecting something softer. "Sharp" is genuinely subjective: a Rolex is sharp too, and where one person reads that as crisp and well-defined, another finds it catches. The bracelet clasp is the sharpest part of the whole package — that is the part to know about before you commit.

If a previous mod was painful to wear, it is worth working out what actually caused it: a poorly finished lug edge digging in is a different problem from a clasp catching on the back of your wrist. Email hello@luciusatelier.com and say which it was, and you will get an honest answer on whether ours will be better or much the same.

Do you customize cases? Can I have a case machined or finished to my own spec?

Cases ship exactly as listed — no custom machining, no changes to size, lug width or lug shape, no alternative finishes of an existing case, and no engraving (a local engraver or jeweller can engrave a finished part after purchase). What you can customize is the build: choose the case, dial, hands, chapter ring, bezel insert, crystal and bracelet you want and LA will assemble the finished watch for you. Bespoke design work — one-off dials, mockups or renders, designing a build to a brief — is not offered. For fully custom work, see the list of watch modification specialists.

Can I use an aftermarket bracelet on this case?

No — only Lucius Atelier bracelets fit.

A bracelet isn't like a strap. Straps and NATOs hang off plain spring bars, so any 20mm strap works here. A bracelet with solid end-links is a different thing: the end-link is a shaped piece of steel machined to sit flush against one specific case profile. Ours are cut to the Lucius Atelier case shapes — that's what makes them look built-in rather than bolted on.

That precision cuts both ways. An aftermarket or OEM Seiko bracelet was shaped to its own maker's case, not to ours, so it won't sit flush here. The reverse is equally true: our bracelets don't fit generic 20mm lugs or OEM Seiko cases.

Every bracelet in our collection fits this case — including discontinued ones. A bracelet leaving the catalogue only means we stopped making it, never that it stopped fitting. Browse the bracelet collection: https://luciusatelier.com/collections/bracelets

If you'd rather not use a bracelet, any 20mm strap or NATO fits this case.

This 36mm watch case delivers premium quality with excellent finishing, combining brushed lug tops and polished surfaces. Customers praised its "perfect proportions for smaller wrists" and tight, clean construction. Ideal for watch modding builds, though shoppers note 36mm may feel small for some. Outstanding customer support noted.

  • The proportions are perfect for a smaller wrist and the finishing looks way more premium.
  • Fantastic quality case! Brushed on top of the lugs and polished everywhere else.
  • I love this 36mm size case and with the bezel it is the perfect 37mm.

Perfect! Shiny

This case is honestly the reason the whole build feels premium. The proportions are perfect for a smaller wrist (36mm + short lug-to-lug), and the finishing looks way more premium than I expected. Everything feels tight and clean. Very shiny and clean!
But be sure that you really want 36 mm cause it can feel a little small. But it is fantastic.

Adriel was very helpful in the process, as this was my first ever watch.

4.99/5. I wish more options were available, but quite pleased.

Great Size Case!!!

I love this 36mm size case and with the bezel it is the perfect 37mm. The height of the case is also great. I have the double domed blue AR crystal and together with this case they are a great match. The slim coin edge crown on this has good proportions.

Hey there is is possible to get a ring so you can fit an ETA or selita sw200 in this case?

Adriel from LuciusAtelier.com

Hi Gordon,

Thank you for expressing interest in our mod parts!

Unfortunately, the SKX013 Submariner Watch Case - 36mm [NH34-Ready] is incompatible with an ETA or Sellita SW200 movement.

That said, if you’d like, I can spare you a ETA2824 movement spacer with an order of the SKX013 Submariner Watch Case - 36mm [NH34-Ready]. However, please note that even with the spacer, it will not make the case compatible with those movements.

Let me know if you have any further questions—I’m happy to help!

Best regards,
Adriel

Hi, since this case is 36mm and fits regular skx013 bezels, does the bezel exceed the case diameter? Because there are no photos and i don't know how it will look. Thanks in advance love your shop!

Adriel from LuciusAtelier.com

Hi George,

Thank you so much for your kind words and support for our shop—it truly means a lot! 😊

To answer your question, the bezel on the 36mm case does exceed the case diameter by approximately 0.8mm. This slight overhang is intentional and contributes to the classic aesthetic of the watch, ensuring a balanced look.

If you have any further questions or would like additional details, feel free to reach out. I'm here to help!
