The snowflake handset is the big-lume icon of the sport-watch world — broad, flat-faceted hour and minute hands that trade slender dress proportions for honest luminous real estate. v2 brings redesigned dimensions for a cleaner sweep across the dial.

This is the improved gold edition: multiple layers of 100% Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 are built up on each hand, so the blue glow runs noticeably brighter — and the polished gold finish does the daytime work.

Due to the large surface area and the multiple layers of BGW9 luminous pigment on the hour hand, the lume is prone to cracking without the proper finesse during hand installation. This handset is only recommended for experts with a great level of finesse and a professional hand-setting tool.

Will these hands fit my movement?

Check the Fit Movements list in the Specs tab against your caliber. The handset fits a wide range of Seiko movements — including 7S, 4R, 6R, NE and NH families — because they share a common pinion pattern. If your caliber is on the list, these hands fit.

What are the pinion sizes?

Hour 1.50mm, minute 0.88mm, second 0.198mm. The pinion is the hole at the base of each hand that presses onto the movement — these dimensions match the standard Seiko pinion pattern shared across the calibers in the fit list.

Can I use these on a GMT (NH34) build?

The hour, minute and second hands fit the NH34. A GMT build also needs a separate GMT hand, which is not included in this set.

Do the hands come with lume?

Yes — these hands are filled with 100% Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 Grade A, for a long-lasting blue glow at night, with a clean metal finish for daytime wear.

Why are the Snowflake hands prone to cracking, and are they hard to install?

The Snowflake's hour hand has a broad, flat face built up with multiple layers of BGW9 lume — the bright glow is exactly what makes it more installation-sensitive than a slimmer handset. Pressed with too little finesse, or without a proper hand-setting tool, the lume bed can crack. Seat the hands slowly and squarely with the right tool; for this reason the Snowflake is best suited to experienced modders rather than a first build. Cracking from installation is handling damage, not a manufacturing fault.

High-quality polished gold watch hands with excellent aesthetics and fit. Customers praised the "3d effect, clean and unique" dial and "beautiful" appearance. Installation is straightforward though some found setting the second hand challenging. Lume performance is acceptable but not exceptional, fading faster than expected. Minor sizing concerns noted.

Bronze medallion dial in gold with handset bgw9

Quick shipping, well packed with the personal touch.
Dial Indices are well placed with a matching lume to hands in colour. Polishing is good and there were no smudges or stains. Dial is beautiful and changes character in differing lights.
Lume is not as bright as I had hoped (both being version two with improved lume) but it is acceptable. The hands fade first.
A version three with more performance would be welcome and am happy to pay a premium for it. If you're a prospective buyer don't be put off, lume is acceptable, I'm picky.

Lovely gold hands fit perfectly on my nh36 and looked great worth my SKX to BB58 mod. They are a little rough around the edges but this isn't Grand Seiko ;)

Lume is not bright but does last all night.

Still waiting for my bezel and bezel insert from alternate supplier.

Almost perfect!

The proportions and angles of the snowflake are the best so far (compared to dagaz and dlw), but it is also the tiniest . Would be perfect if the hour hand was larger. It looks really small especially on bigger dials. The lume is okay for non-seiko. Please make v3 larger!
