About Our Limited Edition Dials

The Great Wave off Kanagawa (神奈川沖浪裏, Kanagawa-oki nami ura) is an iconic woodblock print by Katsushika Hokusai (葛飾北斎), circa 1829 to 1833 in the late Edo period. To date, this remains as Hokusai's most famous piece of work and has been one of the most recognisable works of Japanese Art in the world.

Given the rich history and origin of Hokusai and SEIKO, this is a perfectly paired appreciation of art and horology.

This artwork is painstakingly hand painted by an experience 70 years old artist in micro-painting. Each artwork requires 3 to 4 days to micro hand paint onto a dial. Serial numbers are labelled at 6 o'clock position (For aesthetic reason, we will reduce the serial number font size as seen here and may potentially change the serial number to printed instead of hand painted). Thereafter, dials are coated with enamel for a highly glossy finish. Lastly, beveled mirror polished silver hour indices are applied. An opulent process and finishing for a legendary artwork on a wrist.

***Note: This artwork on the dial is micro-painted by hand. Therefore, each artwork on the dial will defer to a certain degree in terms of colour and contour. Expect some differences. No two pieces will look exactly the same.

Star gazing amazing art work on the dial

Top flight level art work! Amazing skills on how the Kanagawa Wave is painted on the small dial. The artist did a great job and thank you Lucius Atelier for making these dials limited edition!

The Dial is cracked by 10 marker

When I look at the dial under the light it has a 5mm crack by 10 marker. Not very happy at all since I've paid almost $150 for it!!

Great Wave Off Kanagawa (Hand Painted)

When I first received this dial, I was blown away by the quality of it.
I initially wanted to install it on another watch, however after seeing the dial in person, I decided it should grace a different watch.
After a few back and forths with Adriel, (Who was extremely friendly and helpful by the way, thank you Adriel!) I decided on the SARY057.
Am very satisfied and happy with this watch, and it will definitely see a lot of wrist time!!

Great Wave Off Kanagawa

This dial face is very nice. Nicer than I expected, to be honest. The fit was perfect. I had a couple of questions about installation, and they answered the questions completely. So, the Dial was very nice, and the support from Lucius Atelier was very nice also. As you can see, I also got a handset, and a polished chapter ring from Lucius Atelier. All items were outstanding.
