Submariner II. Glossy Black Enamel. Applied Indices. BGW9 A-Grade Lume. Date.
A deep, glossy black enamel with real depth under the crystal — a reflective surface that holds light rather than swallowing it. Against it the polished silver sits bright and the lume plots read clean white, which is what gives a black dive face its sense of occasion.
This is the second-generation Submariner dial — the Submariner II. The face is redrawn around a full printed minute track that runs the outer edge, with mirror-polished applied indices raised off the surface and filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 A-Grade. The logo and the Automatic script are applied too — set onto the dial rather than printed onto it.
The date sits at 3 o'clock, taking the place of the 3 o'clock index in the classic dive layout. It runs on a standard Seiko NH35, and we recommend the black date wheel — the dark disc sinks into the dial so only the numeral reads.
The classic dive face, redrawn.
A standard 28.5mm dial, so it fits any case cut for that size — pair it with a set of BGW9 hands and a chapter ring to finish the build. Browse the full dial range .
Glossy black enamel.
A deep, reflective black enamel with genuine visual depth — not a flat matte print. The kind of face that catches and holds the light.
Applied indices, BGW9 A-Grade lume.
Raised, bevelled, mirror-polished silver indices — set onto the dial surface, not printed on — each filled with 100% Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 A-Grade, the brightest grade Super-LumiNova makes. Cream-white by day, cool blue by night.
Date at 3 o'clock.
The date window takes the 3 o'clock index position. It needs a date caliber — the Seiko NH35; an NH36 fits too, you simply will not see the day. A black date wheel is the match for this dial.
Fits 3 and 4 o'clock crown builds.
Four dial legs as supplied — clip two to suit your case. One dial covers both the modern 3 o'clock and the classic SKX-style 4 o'clock crown position.

Heads up — a dial is one part of the build
Hands. A dial needs a matching set of hands to tell time. To match the A-Grade lume, pair it with a set of Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 hands so the dial and hands glow to the same standard.
Movement. This is a date dial, so it takes a date caliber — the Seiko NH35. The NH36 day-date fits too; you just will not see the day. We recommend the black date wheel so the disc disappears into the dial and only the numeral shows. Browse calibers in the Movements collection .
Chapter ring. Building on an SKX013, SKX015, SKX017 or 7S26-0030 case? Those cases need one of our SKX013 chapter rings — both the normal and the ultra thin clear these applied indices, so the choice is about looks. On other cases it is optional.
