Seiko (TMI) NH35 Automatic Movement - Date (White)

Options

The workhorse date movement.

Genuine Seiko NH35 automatic movement with date function, crown at 3 o'clock, with white date wheel. The default choice for a date build and the most common upgrade from older 7S26/7S36 calibers, adding hacking and hand-winding the older movements lack.

Two accuracy grades. One genuine Seiko caliber, QC-passed by TMI.
Pick Regulated for watchmaker-tuned precision, or Non-Regulated for Seiko factory spec. Every unit is a genuine Time Module Inc. movement, tested functional before it ships.

Date, done simply.
A clean date complication with quick-set correction. Crown out one click to set the date, two clicks to hack and set the time. The most-used movement in the Seiko mod world for good reason.

Regulated or non-regulated.
Choose Regulated and a certified watchmaker tunes it to 0 to +8 seconds/day before it ships. Choose Non-Regulated for factory-default accuracy of -20 to +40 seconds/day per Seiko's spec. Same movement, your call on precision.

Hacking and hand-winding.
Both built in. The seconds hand stops when you pull the crown for precise time-setting, and you can manually wind it. The popular reason modders upgrade from older 7S26/7S36 calibers.

In every box.
Each movement ships with a full-length threaded stem and a dummy stem with plastic crown. Additional full-length threaded stems are available separately.

How the NH family compares

Caliber Complication Crown Position Version
NH34 GMT + Date 3 or 4 o'clock White
NH35 · THIS MOVEMENT Date 3 or 4 o'clock Black White
NH35 Date · 6 o'clock dial 3 or 4 o'clock Black White
NH36 Day + Date 3 o'clock only Black White
NH36 Day + Date 4 o'clock only Black White
NH38 Open Heart (no date) 3 or 4 o'clock View
NH70 / 71 / 72 Skeleton (no date) 3 or 4 o'clock NH72

Most NH movements fit either a 3 or 4 o'clock crown — the stem threads either way and the date disc isn't affected. The NH36 is the exception: its day wheel is pre-aligned for one crown position, so pick the standard (3 o'clock) or the 4 o'clock version to match your case. Every caliber shares the same 24-jewel automatic platform, 21,600 vph beat rate, and 41+ hour power reserve. Click any version to go straight to that product.

For experienced modders only

Movement swapping is recommended only for individuals with the right skills and experience. Every movement passes Time Module Inc. (TMI) quality control before shipping and is guaranteed fully functional on arrival. Given the DIY nature of modding and Seiko's trade practices, movements cannot be returned once shipped. We are not responsible for damage incurred during fitting.

Questions, Answered

Everything worth knowing before you build.

Which dial does the NH35 need?

The NH35 is a date movement, so it takes a date dial — the date window lines up at the 3 o'clock position. It also runs fine behind a no-date dial (the date wheel just turns unseen). Many modders pick an NH35 to keep the option of swapping to a date dial later.

Will the NH35 fit a 3 or 4 o'clock crown case?

Yes, either. The NH35 is a date-only movement, so the crown stem threads at 3 or 4 o'clock and the date disc isn't affected — the dial's date window position is what changes, not the movement. (The day+date NH36 is the one caliber where crown position is fixed, because of its day wheel.)

What's the difference between Regulated and Non-Regulated?

Regulated movements are tuned by a certified watchmaker to 0 to +8 seconds per day before they ship. Non-Regulated movements run at Seiko's factory-default accuracy of -20 to +40 seconds per day. It's the same movement either way — Regulated just buys you tighter timekeeping out of the box.

Is this a Type M or Type L movement, and does it matter?

This is a Type M movement. Type M and Type L are Seiko's two factory hand-fitting heights; Type L sits about 0.4mm taller. Ultra Thin Edition cases have tight hand-to-sapphire clearance, so they take Type M only. Always confirm Type M before fitting.

Can I return a movement if my mod doesn't work out?

Movements can't be returned once shipped. Given the DIY nature of modding and Seiko's trade practices, all movement sales are final. Every unit passes TMI quality control and is guaranteed fully functional on arrival — but the fitting itself is at your own risk, so this movement is recommended for experienced modders only.

NH34 vs NH35 vs NH36 vs NH38 vs NH70 — what is the actual difference?

They are the same movement — only the complication differs. Every one: 24 jewels, −20 to +40 sec/day, 21,600 vph, 41h power reserve, casing Ø29.36mm with the spacer.

| Movement | Shows |
|---|---|
| **NH34** | Date + GMT |
| **NH35** | Date |
| **NH36** | Day date |
| **NH38** | Open Heart |
| **NH70/71/72** | Skeleton |

All of them hack (the seconds hand stops while you set). On the NH38 and the NH70 family the crown has one click and it sets the time, so a no-date dial belongs on an NH38 — there is no empty date position to pull past.

Only the height differs: 7.59mm installed, 7.99mm for the NH34. That extra 0.4mm of hand stack is why a GMT needs a case built for it. Otherwise the family is interchangeable — you are choosing a dial and a crown behaviour, not a different-sized engine.

Fantastic Movements always

Yes, it might just be an NH 35, but the movements from Lucius Atlier are always quality products. I guess the difference is in their quality control

NH35 Nautilus Build

Bought a regulated NH35 for a new Nautilus build. Movement was delivered swiftly with an uncut stem as well as the shipping/testing stem. Haven’t had a chance to put it on a time grapher yet, but from what I’ve seen after a day of wearing the watch, the movement looks to be pretty spot on.

My do it all watch

I ordered a GS 39mm case, explorer dial, snowflake hands and the NH35 movement as an fully assembled watch. Communication and follow up was super quick, pleasant and accurate. As was shipping. And the watch is beautiful and even better than expected.

The little touches with the handwritten note, the very secure packaging and the speed of finalising and delivering my order was top notch

Fantastic Seiko Mod Supplier

As usual, Adriel was super quick with delivery of my NH35 movement orders and the pricing is unbeatable. While there are very many good NH35 clones that are a little less expensive, I like knowing that I am getting a genuine Seiko here for only a few dollars more. Still my go-to movement supplier.

Rock solid Seiko movement although the factory deviation is pretty broad. It’s great that LT regulates them, and it’s well worth the added cost.

Only had it in the new build for a few days, but so far it seems to be sticking within the regulated range.

Fastest watch parts shipment ever!

I have to say, I've ben modding watches for at least 10 years. 99% of the mod parts are out of Singapore, but to date, this shipment was the fastest by a long shot. So far everything looks good but I won't get to assemble for a few days. Thanks!

Are these hand type M or L? Trying to find out if this will fit the new ultra-thin explorer case.

Adriel from LuciusAtelier.com

Hello John!

Thanks for expressing interest in our mod parts!

>> Are these hand type M or L?
It is Type M. All our NH35/36/38/72 will fit EC36UT.

Thanks for reminding me. I will have to update the specs details.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

When do you get restock (regulated version)?

Adriel from LuciusAtelier.com

Hello Juho!

Thanks for expressing interest in our mod parts.

>> When do you get restock (regulated version)?
In Jan/Feb 2022, subject to changes. As SEIKO has closed its only NH movement manufacturing factory since early 2021 due to COVID19, the entire world is in shortage of NH movements. Prices of NH movements are going up every month (although we still keep our prices low).

Whatever NH movements on the market are old existing stocks. So grab whatever you can for now. There is no certainty that SEIKO NH factory will be back in Jan 2022. Closure may prolong if the COVID19 persist.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Cheers,
Adriel

Hello, I have 2 questions:

1. Is this NH35 movement indeed hackable and can it be manually wound?
2. The regulated version is currently (7th of July) unavailable, can you tell me, when it will restock?
