The GS Dress Case. Classic 36mm. Slim by Design.

The 36mm cut of our GS dress case — the same faceted, dial-forward language in the classic mid-size that suits the most wrists.

A selectable caseback fits Seiko NH and Swiss ETA/Sellita movements (ETA2824, ETA2893, SW200, SW260, SW330); the matching spacer and caseback ship with your choice.

Sapphire crystal pre-installed and a screw-down crown fitted. Designed for our 28.5mm dials, an SKX013 chapter ring, and NH movements on the grey dial holding spacer.

Kept deliberately slim, this case is not NH34 GMT-ready — there isn't the height clearance for the NH34's extra 24-hour hand. Run it with NH35, NH36 or NH38, or a Swiss ETA/Sellita movement.

Five movements, one case.
Seiko NH35/36/38, Swiss ETA2824 and ETA2893, Sellita SW200, SW260 and SW330 — selected by caseback, with the spacer and caseback supplied. (Not NH34 — see below.)

Sapphire, already in.
A double-domed sapphire with anti-reflective coating, pressed and sealed in our workshop — and a screw-down crown fitted.

Classic 36, kept slim.
Case 36mm, lug-to-lug 43mm, 20mm lugs. The dress mid-size, held thin on purpose.

Fits the 28.5mm dial ecosystem.
28.5mm dials, an SKX013 chapter ring, NH-compatible hands. Pairs with our 20mm bracelets and straps.

All four share the GS design language — 316L steel, a double-domed sapphire pre-installed, 28.5mm dials, an SKX013 chapter ring, and a 20mm bracelet or strap. Thickness shown is with the solid caseback; a sapphire caseback adds 0.5–0.9mm. The GS 39mm and 62GS 36mm are built on our Ultra Thin architecture — and the GS 36mm v2 is the one case here that is not NH34 GMT-ready.

Heads up — what's in the box, and what's sold separately.

This case ships with the sapphire crystal pre-installed and a screw-down crown fitted. The dial, hands, chapter ring and movement are chosen separately — build it to fit our full dial range .

Chapter ring. This case needs an SKX013 chapter ring to seat the dial correctly — it is mandatory and never included. It takes both normal and ultra thin chapter rings; the choice depends on your dial, not the case. If your dial has applied (raised) indices, pick an ultra thin chapter ring for clearance; a flat-printed dial works with either. Browse SKX013 chapter rings .

Four more parts make a complete watch, each a dropdown above, in the order you'd assemble them:

    1. Chapter ring (required — seats the dial) — SKX013-spec; without it the dial sits too low and the hands won't clear. Browse chapter rings .

Questions, Answered

Everything worth knowing before you build.

Which movements fit the GS Watch Case 36mm v2?

Five movement families in one case, set by the caseback you pick: Seiko NH35, NH36, NH38 (and NH72), Swiss ETA2824 and ETA2893, and Sellita SW200, SW260 and SW330. The matching spacer and caseback are supplied.

The GS 36 v2 and GS Diver 36 can run an NH34 — the double-dome sapphire gives the 24-hour hand stack enough headroom. The catch is the second hand: too long and it touches the crystal, so plan a shorter second hand or use a second-hand cap.

Which caseback should I choose for the GS Watch Case 36mm v2?

Pick the caseback that matches your movement family — Seiko NH, Swiss ETA2824/2893, or Sellita SW200/260/330 — and the matching spacer and caseback ship with it. Choose solid for the slimmest profile at 12.8mm, or the sapphire (exhibition) caseback at 13.3mm to display the movement.

Are the case and bracelet edges sharp, or are they rounded off?

They are rounded off — but they are still crisp, and we would rather say that than have you open the box expecting something softer. "Sharp" is genuinely subjective: a Rolex is sharp too, and where one person reads that as crisp and well-defined, another finds it catches. The bracelet clasp is the sharpest part of the whole package — that is the part to know about before you commit.

If a previous mod was painful to wear, it is worth working out what actually caused it: a poorly finished lug edge digging in is a different problem from a clasp catching on the back of your wrist. Email hello@luciusatelier.com and say which it was, and you will get an honest answer on whether ours will be better or much the same.

Do you customize cases? Can I have a case machined or finished to my own spec?

Cases ship exactly as listed — no custom machining, no changes to size, lug width or lug shape, no alternative finishes of an existing case, and no engraving (a local engraver or jeweller can engrave a finished part after purchase). What you can customize is the build: choose the case, dial, hands, chapter ring, bezel insert, crystal and bracelet you want and LA will assemble the finished watch for you. Bespoke design work — one-off dials, mockups or renders, designing a build to a brief — is not offered. For fully custom work, see the list of watch modification specialists.

Can I use an aftermarket bracelet on this case?

No — only Lucius Atelier bracelets fit.

A bracelet isn't like a strap. Straps and NATOs hang off plain spring bars, so any 20mm strap works here. A bracelet with solid end-links is a different thing: the end-link is a shaped piece of steel machined to sit flush against one specific case profile. Ours are cut to the Lucius Atelier case shapes — that's what makes them look built-in rather than bolted on.

That precision cuts both ways. An aftermarket or OEM Seiko bracelet was shaped to its own maker's case, not to ours, so it won't sit flush here. The reverse is equally true: our bracelets don't fit generic 20mm lugs or OEM Seiko cases.

Every bracelet in our collection fits this case — including discontinued ones. A bracelet leaving the catalogue only means we stopped making it, never that it stopped fitting. Browse the bracelet collection: https://luciusatelier.com/collections/bracelets

If you'd rather not use a bracelet, any 20mm strap or NATO fits this case.

Customers praised this 36mm watch case for its "excellent finishing" with precise brushing and polishing. Shoppers highlighted the "perfect" domed crystal, smooth crown, and great fit with bracelets. The compact size accommodates various dials and movements. One customer noted a chapter ring fitment issue due to tight tolerances. Fast shipping widely commended.

  • The polishing is simply well done and the overall design is balanced.
  • Well finished between the brushing/polishing, creating fantastic lines on the case.
  • Finish is great. The fit between case and strap is excellent.

Very good quality cases

I bought an GS Watch Case - 36mm v2 because I needed something with a domed glass. It looks great.

Great case

Took me some time to find a proper case for an older Seiko linen dial (27,5mm diameter). Found this case that takes a thin chapter ring (bottom mount) so it compensates for the 1mm diameter difference of regular nh35 dials. Very happy with the quality of the case, bracelet and chapter ring (all Lucius Atelier). Brought this 70s dial back to life!

Tidy case

I have been on the look-out for a case to house a textured, gold-leaf japanese dial that I acquired time ago. 36/37 mm is my goldilocks zone so I plumped for this one with the GS bracelet. Some people might consider a 20/18 band on a 36mm watch to be "over-strapped" but I like it. Finish is great. The fit between case and strap is excellent - better than I've had with other vendors. Also, the ultra-thin chapter ring fits a treat.

Compact Flieger GMT

Great case, high quality, I'm happy with this case, fast shipping to UK also. Managed to fit an NH34 to build a small size GMT.

Showstopper

I was impressed by the this case when I first opened the package but it was when I finished my build that I truly saw its excellence. The polishing is simply well done and the overall design is balanced. I don't see a lot of 36mm cases with 20mm lug width. Somehow, they managed to pull it off with good proportions. The crystal also had just the right amount of curve. This case truly elevated my build.

Beautiful GS Case

The case is gorgeous. Well finished between the brushing/polishing, with no overlapping between them creating fantastic lines on the case to give it a gorgeous shape. The crystal is comes with is perfect, subtly domed with some nice AR that doesnt take away from the Dial and the crown is solid with a buttery smooth screwdown crown

Beautiful Finishing

The case is masterfully done. One of the best 36mm aftermarket dress watch case out there, in my opinion. A special thanks for the great customer service. I will buy again for sure! #MyFirstBuild

Fit and finish are great, better bracelet fitment

The case is great all around, good transitions in finishing, and the improvement on the lug holes for the fitted bracelet fixes the complaints I had with the V1.

My only issue is with the eta2824/sw200 movement adapter, I wish they would provide movement holder screws along with it to mount with your movement. When transferring the eta/sw over to the provided adapter, the screws that sandwich the movement to its original holder would not fit the adapter due to lack of **** head diameter clearance to the inner sidewall of the movement holder. This could be an issue for some without proper tools or confidence in altering parts.

Amazing quality

The brushing on this case is top notch, best aftermarket case I've ever bought. All parts from this build apart from the dial were from Lucius Atelier and I couldn't be happier with all of them.

Excellent Quality Case

I really like the quality on this case (brushing/polishing/shape).
Installing the chapter ring/movement was easy because I just had to put the chapter ring on top of the dial before placing the case on the movement.

Beautiful case, but with one caveat

The fit and finish is very good; I could nitpick a tiny bit about the finishing in places nobody would ever see, but the finishing is perfect where it counts.

However, I did run into an issue where the Lucius Ateiler SKX013 chapter ring (mirror polished finish) that I had ordered alongside this case would not fit. It was slightly too big to slot in. I measured the chapter ring, and my calipers produced the expected 28.5mm outer diameter figure, so I'm assuming the case was milled a little too tight on the tolerances here-- and I'm guessing by just

Probably the best non-Explorer style 36mm case (3.5/5)

I was very lucky to get one of the last GS36 V1 cases.

Pros:
- Looks really nice, I especially like the sharp, angular edges on the lugs that I feel are missing from V2
- Relatively simple mod, mostly just plug-and-play

Cons:
- Has the tightest screwdown crown I've ever had - any deviation from 'perfect' alignment of crown stem and case will result in the crown being nigh impossible to use with bare fingers - a tiny application of Silicon Grease (for gaskets) alleviated the issue, but crown is still extremely tight. Most aftermarket crowns have no such issue, I really hope V2 has addressed this issue.
- Did not come with springbars
- AR coating could've been better - it's still very reflective and I feel a simpler flat or inner-domed crystal may have alleviated the issue.

Verdict:
- Aesthetically I prefer this over the Explorer case and the GS36V2, because it offers something more 'unique'
- Design would be perfect with perhaps a better crown with more 'wiggle room' like most aftermarket crowns, and perhaps being 'taller' larger fingers could grip it.

Using this mod part for: LA GS 36mm case
Great Case, but hopefully V2 will be perfect

This is a gorgeous case, the brushing and polishing are top notch! Yes, it is a little chunky compared to the 36mm explorer, but the Grand Seiko this case is based on is not exactly slim, so absolutely no complaint there. The only thing I hope to see in a second version is the relocation of the lug holes. This was a bit disappointing as the stock photos have the lug holes in a completely different location. I understand the website says they will not be drilled, but there is a difference between not being drilled though, and being in a different location. If a V2 comes out with this change, I would buy it in a heartbeat. All said though, I am happy as always with my purchase for Adriel. This is an amazing case for my Grand Seiko Kirazuri homage.

Perfectly executed case

I only received this case today and have already assembled a watch. The case is perfect. Clearly no shortcuts weee taken in the design of this case and it is built with attention to detail.

Love my GS-inspired build!

Combined the GS-style 36mm case, dauphine hands, and a NamokiMods Sakura Navy dial for this build which I really love.

Hi Adriel, just checking on compatibility for an SW260. Given that its stem height is 2.8mm (vs. 1.8mm for the SW200), do you have a special spacer available for SW260?

Adriel from LuciusAtelier.com

Hi Thach,

Thank you for reaching out and for your interest in the GS Watch Case!

Unfortunately, I do not have a special spacer available for the SW260 movement. Because of the difference in stem height, it is completely incompatible with this specific case.

I am sorry I do not have a solution for that specific movement! Please let me know if you have any other questions about compatibility or need help with anything else.

Best regards,
Adriel
