The Datejust. Fluted Bezel, 36mm. Five Movements, One Case.

A fluted-bezel dress case in the classic date-window idiom, in a true-to-era 36mm — the Datejust silhouette, ready to build.

One case, five movement families: Seiko NH, Swiss ETA2824 and ETA2893, Sellita SW200, SW260 and SW330 — chosen by the caseback you select, with spacer and caseback supplied.

Ships with a flat sapphire crystal pre-installed and a screw-down crown fitted. Built for our 28.5mm dials, an SKX013 chapter ring (mandatory), and NH movements on the grey dial holding spacer.

Kept slim, this case is not NH34 GMT-ready — there isn't clearance for the 24-hour hand. Run NH35, NH36 or NH38, or a Swiss ETA/Sellita movement.

This case ships with the sapphire crystal pre-installed and a screw-down crown fitted. The dial, hands, chapter ring and movement are chosen separately — build it to fit our full dial range .

Chapter ring. This case needs an SKX013 chapter ring to seat the dial correctly — it is mandatory and never included. It takes both normal and ultra thin chapter rings; the choice depends on your dial, not the case. If your dial has applied (raised) indices, pick an ultra thin chapter ring for clearance; a flat-printed dial works with either. Browse SKX013 chapter rings .

The case ships with the sapphire crystal pressed in and a screw-down crown fitted. You choose the rest below — every part is an Add dropdown on this page — and the caseback you select sets which movement family the case fits.

Four more parts make a complete watch, each a dropdown above, in the order you'd assemble them:
1. Chapter ring (required — seats the dial) — SKX013-spec; without it the dial sits too low and the hands won't clear. Browse chapter rings .

Which movements fit the Datejust Watch Case 36mm?

Five movement families in one case, set by the caseback you pick: Seiko NH35, NH36, NH38 (and NH72), Swiss ETA2824 and ETA2893, and Sellita SW200, SW260 and SW330. The matching spacer and caseback are supplied. Kept slim, this case is not NH34 GMT-ready — there isn't clearance for the 24-hour hand — so run NH35/36/38 or a Swiss movement.

Which caseback should I choose for the Datejust Watch Case 36mm?

Pick the caseback matching your movement family — Seiko NH, Swiss ETA2824/2893, or Sellita SW200/260/330 — and the matching spacer and caseback ship with it. Choose solid for the slimmest profile at 11.5mm, or the sapphire (exhibition) caseback at 12mm. This is the slimmest case in the GS platform, with a flat sapphire crystal pre-installed.

Are the case and bracelet edges sharp, or are they rounded off?

They are rounded off — but they are still crisp, and we would rather say that than have you open the box expecting something softer. "Sharp" is genuinely subjective: a Rolex is sharp too, and where one person reads that as crisp and well-defined, another finds it catches. The bracelet clasp is the sharpest part of the whole package — that is the part to know about before you commit.

If a previous mod was painful to wear, it is worth working out what actually caused it: a poorly finished lug edge digging in is a different problem from a clasp catching on the back of your wrist. Email hello@luciusatelier.com and say which it was, and you will get an honest answer on whether ours will be better or much the same.

Do you customize cases? Can I have a case machined or finished to my own spec?

Cases ship exactly as listed — no custom machining, no changes to size, lug width or lug shape, no alternative finishes of an existing case, and no engraving (a local engraver or jeweller can engrave a finished part after purchase). What you can customize is the build: choose the case, dial, hands, chapter ring, bezel insert, crystal and bracelet you want and LA will assemble the finished watch for you. Bespoke design work — one-off dials, mockups or renders, designing a build to a brief — is not offered. For fully custom work, see the list of watch modification specialists.

Nicest 36mm Case I've Used

This is a great case. Always love that I can count on LA to provide high quality fit and finish. The case is definitely the nicest 36mm case I've found so far. The measurements for it are accurate, but the way it's designed and finished makes it look less bulky than other 36mm cases I've used. So good news for those of you looking for the smallest possible NH compatible case!

Unfortunately, no — this case is designed for Seiko NH-family movements (NH35, NH36, NH38) and has not been tested with the ETA 2892-A2. I would not be able to confirm fitment for that movement.

Do you have to remove the crystal to insert a chapter ring

To answer your question directly, no, you do not have to remove the crystal to insert the chapter ring. The chapter ring actually sits directly on top of the dial before you case the movement. This is the exact same method Seiko originally used when building their SKX013 watches, which makes the assembly process much easier.

Yes, it is possible. The Datejust Watch Case - 36mm is compatible with all 3 types of 28.5mm dials:

1. No-date
2. Date
3. Day-date

So if you would like a date window, you can simply use a compatible 28.5mm date dial.

Is it possible to use a solid case back if I’m using the eta movement?

Hi,

No — if you’re using an ETA movement, the caseback supplied is sapphire only. A solid caseback isn’t compatible with the ETA setup for this case.

I am using ETA 2834 movement.

It is same as 2824 . Basically a 2824’s newer variant with day window . Same base , movement, diameter (25.6mm) , etc .

But the thickness of the movement is 5.25mm . Similar to NH35 which has 5.32mm .

Can i get the dial spacer and movement spacer for ETA 2824 but choose the case base sapphire for NH35 ?

As there is no option to choose what spacer we want while ordering !!

Just wanted to know if the bezel on this case style interchangeable?

The bezel is removable, but interchangeability depends on your ability to engineer and CNC manufacture a bezel to fit. Without that capability, swapping bezels would not be practical, as aftermarket bezels are not readily available for this case.
