The pilot handset is built for instant legibility — broad, confident hour and minute hands with a clean second hand, the layout that made flieger-style watches readable at a glance. In a polished red finish, it carries that tool-watch clarity into a dressed-up build.

These are filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9, so the time stays readable in the dark as well as the light. This is the improved version, with multiple layers of BGW9 for a noticeably brighter, longer-reading glow.

Will these hands fit my movement?

Check the Fit Movements list in the Specs tab against your caliber. The handset fits a wide range of Seiko movements — including 7S, 4R, 6R, NE and NH families — because they share a common pinion pattern. If your caliber is on the list, these hands fit.

What are the pinion sizes?

Hour 1.50mm, minute 0.88mm, second 0.198mm. The pinion is the hole at the base of each hand that presses onto the movement — these dimensions match the standard Seiko pinion pattern shared across the calibers in the fit list.

Can I use these on a GMT (NH34) build?

The hour, minute and second hands fit the NH34. A GMT build also needs a separate GMT hand, which is not included in this set.

Do the hands come with lume?

Yes — these hands are filled with 100% Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 Grade A, for a long-lasting blue glow at night, with a clean metal finish for daytime wear.

Super readable!

I like how these hands pop visually against a green "alpinist" inspired dial, and the lume is solid. The bright red is very satisfying, and extremely legible (which makes them a joy to read the time from). This was my first watch build ever, and I plan on doing another one for my wife for Christmas. Maybe I'll use these hands (or similar) again!
