Terra Explorer Dial v2 - Enamel Black

Swiss Lume

LIMITED EDITION · 200 pieces only. Once this run sells out, this dial is retired for good — never remade.

Terra Explorer Dial v2. Applied Indices. Glossy Black Enamel. Minute Track.

The explorer dial, brought back and refined. A glossy black enamel face with a 3, 6 and 9 numeral layout set against the outer indices — the configuration that makes a watch face read wider and more open than the case around it.

The numerals and the hour indices are applied in beveled, mirror-polished silver — raised metal, not flat print — and filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova, so the whole face lights up, not just the markers. The relief is what gives the dial its depth in daylight and its glow at night.

A printed minute track runs the outer edge in white — the detail that gives the dial its tool-watch precision and a little extra texture against the glossy black enamel.

Your lume, your call. Choose 100% Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 Grade A for a cool ice-blue glow, or C3 Grade X1 for a vivid green one — both the highest grade made, both charging fast and glowing up to eight hours.

Built for the explorer case.
This dial was drawn around the classic explorer silhouette. As a standard 28.5mm dial it fits any case built for that size, but its natural home is our Explorer Watch Case — 39mm .

Explorer 3-6-9 layout.
The 3, 6 and 9 numerals against the outer indices compose a visually wider, more open face — the hallmark of an explorer dial.

Applied, beveled, lumed.
The indices and numerals are raised, mirror-polished silver — not flat print — and filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova so they glow at night.

Your choice of Swiss lume.
BGW9 Grade A glows cool blue; C3 Grade X1 glows vivid green. Both are top-grade, selected at checkout.

Printed minute track.
The outer minute track in white adds tool-watch precision and a touch more texture to the black enamel face.

Heads up — a dial is one part of the build

Hands. A dial needs a matching set of hands to tell time. For this dial we recommend our Mercedes Hands v2 — Polished Silver — the classic explorer pairing, and they take the same BGW9 or C3 Swiss lume so you can match the glow across hands and dial.

Chapter ring. This dial already carries its own printed minute track, so it pairs best with a clean chapter ring — one without minute markers of its own, so the two don't compete.

Movement. This is a time-only dial face — no date or day window. Any standard NH-type movement works (NH35, NH36 and the calibres listed under Specs); if you fit a date movement, the date simply won't show through the dial. See the FAQ for the full list.

Questions, Answered

Everything worth knowing before you build.

Minute track or no minute track — which variant should I pick?

It's purely aesthetic — both share the same applied beveled mirror-silver indices, 3-6-9 numerals, and Swiss lume choice. The Markers variant has a printed minute track around the outer edge, which reads sportier and helps with precise minute reading. The No-Markers variant drops the track for a cleaner, more minimal face that lets the indices and the enamel carry the dial. Same fit, same movements, same lume options either way.

Are the markers printed or applied?

Applied. The hour indices and the 3-6-9 numerals are raised, beveled, mirror-polished silver fixed to the glossy enamel — not flat print — and they're filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova (your choice of BGW9 or C3), so they glow. The relief is what gives the dial its depth. The Markers variants add a printed minute track around the outer edge; the No-Markers variants leave it off for a cleaner face.

BGW9 or C3 lume — which should I choose?

Both are the highest-grade Swiss Super-LumiNova made; the difference is the glow. BGW9 Grade A reads white in daylight and glows cool ice-blue at night — the modern, crisp choice. C3 Grade X1 reads pale green in daylight and glows vivid green — the brightest, most classic tool-watch glow. Both charge fast and glow up to eight hours. Pick by the look you want, and match it to your hands for a cohesive build.

Which movement do I need?

This is a time-only dial face — there's no date or day window. It fits any standard NH-type movement, including the NH35 and NH36 plus the 7S26 / 7S36 / 4R15 / 4R35 / 6R15 / NE15 / NH25 / NH26 calibres listed in the Specs. If you fit a date movement like the NH35 or NH36, the date simply won't show through the dial — that's fine, it just means an unused complication.

Will this dial fit my case?

Yes, almost certainly. This is a standard 28.5mm dial — the industry-standard size for Seiko mod builds. It fits any case designed for a 28.5mm dial, whether that's a Bauhaus 33, an SKX013, or another aftermarket case. The matched case shown with a dial is an aesthetic pairing, not a fitment requirement.

Why does the dial have four legs?

The dial ships with four legs so it fits two different crown positions. Seiko movements come in 3 o'clock and 4 o'clock crown layouts, and the dial feet sit in different places for each. Clip off the two legs that don't match your crown position — two stay, two go.

How do I fit it to a 3 o'clock or a 4 o'clock crown movement?

Remove the two legs that don't match your movement's crown position by clipping or gently twisting them off, then seat the dial as normal. Two legs stay, two go. See the How To Mod tab for the full fitting walkthrough.

Does it work with normal or ultra thin chapter rings?

Both. All our SKX013 chapter rings — normal and ultra thin — clear the dial. Choose by your case's clearance, not the dial.

Can you remove the logo from the dial?

Our own dials carry the logo on an adhesive backing rather than a permanent stamped or engraved marking, so it isn't baked into the dial. In practice, though, removing one cleanly isn't realistic — the adhesive doesn't release without scratching or marking the dial surface, and on enamel dials especially the risk is high. We sell our dials as-is and don't modify them further. You're welcome to remove the logo yourself or have a modding specialist do it for you — just go in knowing the dial face will likely pick up some cosmetic marks.

Is this a limited edition — will it be restocked?

Yes, it's a limited edition, and it will not be restocked. Once the run sells out it's retired for good. The edition size is shown on the product page.
