[Oil Painted] The Great Wave off Kanagawa Dial (No Date)

LIMITED EDITION OF 100 PIECES. Note: Due to the natural characteristic of oil painting and the dial artist's artistic expression, each dial's texture and colours varies.

The Great Wave off Kanagawa (神奈川沖浪裏, Kanagawa-oki nami ura) is an iconic woodblock print by Katsushika Hokusai (葛飾北斎), circa 1829 to 1833 in the late Edo period. To date, this remains as Hokusai's most famous piece of work and has been one of the most recognisable works of Japanese Art in the world.

Given the rich history and origin of Hokusai and SEIKO, this is a perfectly paired appreciation of art and horology.

This artwork is oil painted by a professional dial artist. This oil painted dials will possess a degree of 3-dimensional characteristic and it is painted with the artist's expression of The Great Wave off Kanagawa.

Each artwork requires about half a day's work to finish painting. Thereafter, dials are left to dry for at least a month before installing the mirror polished silver hour applied indices. In order to retain the impression of oil paints, there is no additional coating.

***Note: This artwork on the dial is micro-painted by hand. Therefore, each artwork on the dial will defer to a certain degree in terms of colour and contour. Expect some differences. No two pieces will look exactly the same.

Great Transaction!

I had been wanting to build a custom Seiko for a long time. After watching a YouTube video by Darak Watches about building the Kanagawa Wave watch i cane directly to this website and immediately bought the hand painted oil Kanagawa Dial.
It was a smooth transaction, the website kept me abreast of when my order and when it would ship out. I was notified of the day it was shipped and before I knew it I got a knock on my door from DHL with my AWESOME dial!
