Genuine lapis lazuli — the highest grade we can source — cut and finished by hand. It's a deep ultramarine blue threaded with golden specks of pyrite and only minimal white calcite. Because it's a natural stone, no two dials are alike: the grain, flecking and tone shift from one piece to the next. The hour and minute markers, logo and 'automatic' script are mirror-polished silver, individually applied.

Carefully — this is a solid gemstone with no brass base and no dial legs, so it seats by an included adhesive ring onto the movement's dial holding spacer rather than dial feet. Two cautions: the applied minute markers are lightly adhered and will lift if touched, and the caseback must not be over-tightened — the sandwich effect between case and caseback can crack the stone. For these reasons it's recommended for professional watchmakers and experienced modders.

Yes, almost certainly. This is a standard Seiko mod dial — 28.5mm in diameter and 0.4mm thick, the industry-standard size — so it fits most, if not all, Seiko cases. Where a dial is shown with a particular case, that's an aesthetic pairing, not a fitment requirement. If you're unsure, the surest check is to remove your current dial and measure it with a vernier caliper.

This dial is unique to each piece, whether from a genuine natural material or an individually hand-finished process, so its pattern and colour vary from one example to the next and won't match the photo exactly. The photos are representative of the design, not the precise piece you'll receive.

An open-heart dial has an aperture cut into the face to reveal the movement's balance wheel — the beating heart of the watch — through the dial. It's built for the open-heart NH family on a 3 o'clock crown: the Seiko NH38 (the NH70, NH71 and NH72 fit too), whose balance the opening is positioned to frame. Because it's matched to that one family, the dial comes with two feet already in position — nothing to clip.

This version ships without dial legs and is seated by manual alignment during assembly, which gives flexibility on positioning but takes a steadier hand — best handled by an experienced modder.

Applied. The hour markers are applied (raised) indices — raised metal on the dial surface, not flat print. The relief is what gives the face its depth and light play as the wrist moves.

The fine minute markers can be. They're individually applied and extremely small, with a correspondingly tiny adhesive footprint, so they can shift or lift if pressed — handle the dial by its edges and never touch the marker surface. The logo and "Automatic" text are firmly applied and don't lift in normal handling. Because of this delicacy, dials with applied minute markers suit experienced modders.

No — dials and hands are sold separately. This listing is for the dial only; choose a matching handset to complete the build. If your dial is lumed, pairing it with lumed hands in the same lume type keeps the whole face glowing together.

No — this dial carries no lume. If you want the watch to glow in the dark, pair it with a set of lumed hands; the glow then comes from the hands rather than the dial face.

Where a dial has applied (raised) indices, they sit within the clearance of either ring — so the choice is purely about looks: the ultra thin chapter ring sits low and discreet, while the normal sits a little more pronounced. Pick whichever suits your style.
