1908 Lineup

1908 Lineup Questions, Answered

Everything worth knowing before you build — metals, parts, GMT compatibility, and what works as a set.

Do I have to buy the whole build, or can I buy parts separately?

Every item in the 1908 Lineup is sold individually. Buy the complete matched build — case, dial, hands, crown, chapter ring, bracelet — or just the pieces you need for an existing project. The collection is arranged as two ready-matched builds so you don't have to guess which parts agree.

What's the difference between the steel and yellow gold builds?

The steel build uses a polished 316L stainless steel case with a silver-index dial, silver Breguet hands, and a silver crown, chapter ring, and bracelet. The yellow gold build uses the same 316L case finished in durable PVD yellow gold, paired with a gold-index dial, gold hands, and gold crown, chapter ring, and bracelet. The yellow gold is a PVD coating, not solid gold — it carries the look with far better wear resistance and a far lower price.

What does a complete watch need beyond this collection?

The case ships as a case body — case, caseback, bezel, and double-dome sapphire crystal. The 1908 Lineup adds the matching dial, hands, crown, chapter ring, and bracelet — so the only part you still need to add is an NH movement (sold separately). New to this? Why does the build include an SKX013 chapter ring?

Every Ultra Thin Edition case is built around the SKX013 chapter ring — it is not optional, it is the chapter ring the architecture is designed for. This collection includes the mirror-polished version finish-matched to each build: silver for the steel build, gold for the yellow gold build. It seats between the dial edge and the case, completing the dress-watch look.

Is the 1908 case really GMT-ready?

Yes. Both 1908 cases are engineered for the Seiko NH34 GMT movement, as well as NH35, NH36, and NH38. The NH34 is slightly taller than the others, so the case uses a double-dome sapphire crystal to give the hands clearance. Note that NH34 requires a GMT dial with a wider 2.70mm centre hole — a standard NH35 dial will not fit the NH34.

How thick is the 1908 case, and what wrist does it suit?

The 1908 36mm case is 10.75mm thick including crystal and caseback — genuinely slim for a dress case, and slimmer still for one that takes a GMT movement. At 36mm with a 20mm lug width, it sits comfortably on most wrists from roughly 6.0 to 7.5 inches, and the slim profile lets it slide under a cuff cleanly.

Can I use my own dial and hands instead of the 1908 set?

Yes. The 1908 case accepts any standard 28.5mm dial and any NH-compatible handset. The matched 1908 dial and Sword Breguet hands are the intended dress pairing, but the case is fully compatible with the wider Ultra Thin Edition parts range if you want to build something different.

What strap or bracelet fits this case?

The 1908 case uses a 20mm lug width, so any standard 20mm strap, NATO, or bracelet fits. The matched choice is the Settimo Bracelet, which tapers from 20mm to 16mm in solid steel with a butterfly deployment clasp — drawn specifically for this case's dress proportions.
