Mother of Pearl Series

Light, caught in shell. The Mother of Pearl series is our family of genuine natural-shell dials — real mother of pearl, finished so the surface shifts through soft silvers, pinks and greens — and, in the black grade, teal, violet and deep blue — as the wrist moves. Because the shell is natural, no two dials are ever identical. Each one is a limited edition, retired for good once it sells out. This page gathers the whole family in one place: the dress Natural and Pink editions set with Swarovski crystals, the diver-style Submariner Mother of Pearl Edition, and the Submariner II in black mother of pearl.

The material is the point. Mother of pearl is the iridescent inner layer of shell — nacre — and it carries a depth a printed dial cannot fake: a quiet, shifting lustre that reads differently in daylight, lamplight, and shade. The dress editions set genuine Swarovski crystals at the hours; the Submariner editions run lumed applied indices for low light. Either way, the shell does the talking.

• Want the dark side of the shell? The Submariner II — Black Mother of Pearl — near-black nacre that opens into teal, violet and deep blue, semi-gloss, with BGW9 A-Grade lumed applied indices — in Date and No Date.

The series at a glance

Why the series works

The material. Every dial is genuine mother of pearl — natural shell, not paint or print. The nacre carries a living iridescence that shifts with the light, and because it is natural, every dial's figure is one of a kind.

Markers, set two ways. The dress Natural and Pink editions are set with genuine Swarovski crystals at the hours for a clean sparkle; the Submariner editions run applied indices for low-light legibility.

Lumed or bare. The Submariner Mother of Pearl Edition fills its applied indices with Swiss Super-LumiNova BGW9 Grade A; the Swarovski editions are non-lume — their crystals catch light rather than store it. Pair a lumed dial with lumed hands so the build reads as one piece.

One size, standard fit. These are standard 28.5mm three-hand dials, so they fit any case built for a 28.5mm dial — a Bauhaus 33, an SKX013, or another aftermarket case. They run on the NH35 / NH36 / NH38 family (No Date dials also take NH70 / NH71 / NH72); the Day-Date needs the NH36. The series has no GMT dials.

Limited, then gone. Each Mother of Pearl dial is produced in a single capped run and never remade. When one sells out it is retired for good — the sold-out pieces below are kept on the page so the full series stays on record.
